I’m very thankful for all sorts of equipment, ingredients, recipes and experience gained from making a whole bunch of mistakes and being surprised by a few fabulous creations. I work on cakes in my kitchen for family and friends.

Cakes are a labour of love for me…
I really want each one to be the very best it can be!

Maybe that’s why it sincerely grieves me when a cake doesn’t measure up and there’s no time to make it any better than it is.  And then, there are those times when a cake just works — everything comes together so nicely!  I’m pleased and thankful when this happens because there are occasional cakes just don’t look as I imagined they would — and it’s so terribly disappointing — not just for me, but probably for the bride or the family or whatever.  This lessens over the years, for which I am very grateful!!

So, I press on in this journey to locate the best equipment, recipes, methods and techniques as I strive to bake and decorate the perfect cake.
Maybe the journey will be yours, too! ♥

I’m thankful for this opportunity and am delighted to share this site and my passion for cooking & baking with you.

My journey first begins with the Lord Jesus, without Whom I would be, and could do, nothing.  Gratefully, this journey continues with my husband, my dearest friend and love, and with our children and grandchildren, each of whom I adore more with each passing day — my journey continues day after day to love and serve them here in our home.

For over forty years I’ve been cooking and baking in our home for our family and friends and all along the way I’ve had a desire to learn and to practice making beautiful cakes — thus, the name of this site: A Bella Cake.

I’ve gathered lots of different ideas and some experience and am so blessed to have a husband who loves & cares for me and has blessed me with equipment, pans and supplies, cookbooks, dozens and dozens of beautiful specialty cake cookbooks and dreams every day!

So, this work is for them — this site is dedicated to them. Hopefully, all of this will be blessing to them and to you.

Thank you for joining my on my journey to bake the perfect cake.

May God bless you!  If you have questions, ideas or suggestions for me,

And… about the photo…
I have a print of this Norman Rockwell painting on my kitchen wall.  The print belonged to my Daddy, who was in the restaurant business.  As well as being an excellent chef and foodie, he was quite an entertaining man!  He made the most delicious meals — sauces, salsas, and dressings, often sharing with me recipes, food-thoughts and creations.  He always talked of one day writing a book — and perhaps that’s one of the reasons I have such a strong desire to write through the years. Every day, my life is writing a book he never got to write.  He often talked of writing, cooking and going on a diet — and generally it was said while holding a cookbook or something delicious to eat in his hand.  I will never stop loving or missing him… gone too soon.
